In the streets of La Habana – Cuba

Colors are dominating in La Habana: an old blue Ford, the often-decrepit pastels of the buildings and the vivid green of the vegetation…

However, during this journey a dull sky showed only some boring grey, diffusing a far too strong light that accentuated badly contrasts. Therefore it seemed interesting to shoot in black and white, voluntary forgetting the wide variety of colors.

Finally, a black and white photo is an interpretation of what the photographer sees and remembers. It is as well a way to accentuate other contrasts than the one proposed by lights.

In black and white, La Habane looks out of its contemporary context. It seems frozen in time, somewhere between now and a long time ago.
