Ce sont les couleurs qui dominent dans La Havane : le bleu d’une vieille Ford, les pastels souvent décrépits des immeubles, le vert intense de la végétation… Cependant, durant ce séjour le ciel aura été maussade, gris, laissant trop souvent passer une lumière trop vive qui accentue horriblement les contrastes. Il m’a alors semblé judicieux de passer au noir et blanc pour plusieurs scènes, délaissant volontairement une palette des plus riches.
Finalement, comme j’ai déjà pu le dire, une photo en noir et blanc est une interprétation de ce que le photographe voit, rencontre. C’est une façon de révéler d’autres contrastes que ceux proposés par la lumière.
Il me semble aussi qu’ainsi, ce format permet de sortir La Havane de son contexte contemporain pour la replonger dans un espace intemporel, sorte de témoignage d’une époque dépassée sans pour autant comprendre si cela s’est passé hier ou bien avant.
